Tommy and Puppy were best friends. They loved to play together, eat together, and watch cartoons together. Little Bunny went everywhere that Puppy went. She played with Tommy and Puppy too. They all slept in Tommy’s bed. Mommy read them a story every night. One day Mommy took Tommy to the eye doctor. The doctor checked Tommy’s eyes. The doctor told Mommy that Tommy would have to wear glasses. Tommy would also have to wear a patch to help one of his eyes get strong.

The introduction of these three vision interventions can be frightening to a small child. Tommy comes to accept his glasses, patches and therapy with help from Puppy and Bunny.
About the Author
Cynthia Davis is the mother of one child. Her son was diagnosed with amblyopia when he was three years old. She struggled with the fact that she was unaware that her son had poor vision and needed glasses. She lives outside Seattle, WA with her husband and son. Baby Sue Acree was diagnosed with amblyopia in the 2nd grade during a class screening. Despite wearing a patch and glasses, she never regained vision in her affected eye. She and Cynthia have been friends for almost twenty years. She resides in Olympia, WA.
