My name is Whisper and I was born under a large mesquite tree in the Tonto National Forest. My family was a small band of six wild horses, part of a large herd of over 100 horses that grazed along the Lower Salt River. We all roamed freely over the hills and valley of the beautiful desert near Mesa, Arizona.

About the Book
Whisper is a wild horse who lives in the desert along the Salt River in Arizona. Soon after she was born, she became entangled in wire fencing. The author lifted her out and sent her on her way with her family. This book allows you to follow their friendship for the next three years as Whisper grows into a beautiful mare and introduces her new foal to her friend.
About the Author
Cindy is a retired elementary teacher who spent thirty-six years sharing good literature with primary children. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. Her master’s work focused on integrating children’s literature into all areas of the curriculum. She previously published four children’s books documenting an historic 220-mile sheep trail in Arizona. Her new book combines her love for photography and her fascination with the wild horses along the Lower Salt River, near her home in Mesa, Arizona. She has been observing and photographing these horses for more than twenty-five years. In this book, she shares three years of personal encounters with a wild horse she has named Whisper.
