About the Book
The Bible Studies I chose to do came in answer to the request of my first congregation out of seminary. I consistently sought to present a serious, somewhat scholarly approach to the interested among my parishioners. I would take a book in the bible to study, assume it was written or edited to be read from the beginning and make sense to the reader in that format. I attempted to discover for myself and my group what the book sought to convey. In this volume, the study of Galatians (1981) and 1 Thessalonians (1989) followed that pattern exactly. The Pastoral Epistles (1989) treated the three letters both separately and as an extended effort by their author.
About the Author
I am a retired minister from the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) living in the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia. During the course of my ministry, I developed a variety of Bible Studies that, in turn, I led with a group from the congregation. The impetus for the work came from a request during the first summer I was in my first Church after seminary (1976). I chose to do the first study on 1 Peter, a book about which I knew almost nothing at the time. That and succeeding studies proved to be exceedingly helpful in my growth in ministry and were reasonably well attended when presented. I now live quietly in my retirement with my wife of nearly forty nine years, two dogs, a variety of cats and two ducks.
