About the Book
The Bible studies I chose to do came about in answer to the request from my first congregation out of seminary. I consistently sought to present a serious, somewhat scholarly approach to the interest among my parishioners. I would take a book in the Bible to study, assume it was written or edited to be read from the beginning, and make sense to the reader in that format. I attempted to discover for myself and my group what the book sought to convey. In this volume, the study of 1 Corinthians (1982–83) followed that pattern exactly.
About the Author
I am a retired minister from the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) living in the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia. During the course of my ministry, I developed a variety of Bible studies that, in turn, I led with a group from the congregation. The impetus for the work came a request during the first summer I was in my first Church after Seminary (1976). I chose to do the first study on 1 Petr, a work about which I knew almost nothing at the time. That, and succeeding studies, proved to exceedingly helpful in my growth in ministry and were reasonably well attended when presented. I now live quietly in my retirement with my wife of forty nine years, two dogs and a variety of cats.
