"Samson I don’t understand you! You always drop into my life unexpected, but welcome and without telling me anything about you or how to find you, you leave. Is there something wrong with me? Why is it that you never try to kiss me or make love to me? There are times that I feel so dejected by you."
"Courtney there is so many things that you just don’t understand and that you don’t see. You look at the picture, but you don’t understand it’s meaning. If you would open your heart and look past the surface of people; you would see the true goodness in one’s heart."
"I’m sorry Samson I have no idea what you are talking about. I see things as they are. I don’t sugar coat them."
"No Courtney you see things the way you think they are. Someday you will understand what I am saying. I just hope it will not be too late."
Before Courtney could say another word, Samson started up his motorcycle and drove off.
Courtney went into her apartment thinking that Samson was the ungrateful and selfish one not her. How dare he tell her that she is shallow in her judgment of things? He didn’t even know her that well. She decided to blow him off, who was he to judge her? She felt that she was doing just fine and that she was not going to change who she was for any man. She fixed herself some dinner and realized that again, she was dining alone. She began to wonder if Samson was right about her. She went to bed with the intent of awaking up with a new attitude toward people and life, but Courtney was very headstrong and it would be very hard for her to change.
The next day she woke up and decided to put her new self to the test. She called Leigh to see how Kyle was doing.
She and Leigh did not part on very good terms on their last conversation.
If she could get past her opinion of Leigh and become her friend, then she felt that she was on her way to a new Courtney.
"Hi Leigh how are you?"
"I’m fine Courtney, but this is really bad timing. I’m on my way out the door to go back up to the hospital. Kyle’s fever got so high that I had to take him to the emergency room last night."
"Oh God is he going to be OK?"
"I’m sure that he will be fine it’s just that the doctor feels it would be best if he stayed for a few days."
"Well do you mind if I go to see him?"
"Not at all, I think that would make him very happy, but please don’t stay too, long."
Courtney hung up the phone with the feeling that if Leigh would have taken Kyle to the doctor as soon as he was sick that he would not have ended up in the hospital. Again Courtney formed her own opinion without knowing all the facts. Kyle was much sicker than she knew and it had nothing to do with the way that Leigh was acting as a mother or the way that she was raising her son. In time Courtney would learn the truth about Kyle and about herself. She would see that you cannot judge people without knowing the truth, but unfortunately Courtney was going to have to have her heart broken to see the truth.
