As Dawn sits and stares at her mother in her hospital bed she feels her eyes begin to swell
with tears. She knows that their time together has come to an abrupt halt. She finds herself
reliving her hellish childhood and she remembers how she used to wish that her life could be that
of a normal child and that her mother could be caring and loving. She begins to recall the story
that her mother would tell her over and over about how she was this up and coming new starlet in
Hollywood until she became pregnant with Dawn.
It was the summer of nineteen seventy-two and Cassie Blake was well on her way to
becoming the newest name in the movie industry, or at least that's what she thought. She started
out doing shampoo and toothpaste commercials and then starred in a few sitcoms, but she had
never had a lead role in a movie. A friend of Cassie's told her that there was an open audition for
one of the lead roles in a movie about the late sixties and Woodstock. Cassie had gone to
Woodstock and felt that she would be perfect for the part.
When she went to sign up for the audition there were at least three hundred other girls
trying out for the part. As Cassie looked around the room she could see that those other girls
wanted that part just as badly as she did.
Cassie had one advantage over most of all the other girls. . . she was built like a Barbie
doll. She had long wavy blonde hair and her eyes were as blue as the sea. She had a twenty-two-
inch waist and a thirty-six-inch bust line. Her skin was soft and creamy and her cheeks had a
touch of rose color in them. Her legs were long and shapely and when she walked she took long
and graceful glides.
Finally the director called her name and when she got up to read her lines she made sure
to strut across the stage. She achieved her goal in catching the eye of the director and although he
wasn't sure that he wanted her for the part; he was sure that he wanted her.
The casting director announced the names of the ten women that he wanted to come back
and read a second time. Cassie was elated when her name was called out and she vowed right
then and there that she would do whatever it took to get that part no matter what it was.
Before she left that day she introduced herself to the director and emphasized how badly
she wanted that role and how she'd do anything to get it. He undressed her with his eyes and
knew the power that he had over her. He knew what he wanted from her and he knew just how
he was going to get it.
The next day before Cassie went to her call back audition she bought a new outfit to
wear. She made sure that her pants were tighter than her budget and that her blouse showed off
her fabulous breasts. As she walked in she could hear the other girls say cheap remarks about
her, but she paid no attention to them, she knew that she would have the last laugh or at least
that's what she thought.
She read her lines a second time and was asked to stay after the audition. The director
had narrowed that part down to her and one other girl. He just wanted to see how far she would
go to get it.
"Well Cassie you seem to have quite a talent. I'm sure that you will go very far in this
town. I don't usually mix business with pleasure, but I'd love to take you to dinner tomorrow
night.
That is if you are free."
Cassie's eyes lit up and she was filled with excitement. She was living with her high
school sweetheart, but was not about to blow this opportunity to get close to the famous movie
director Roman Niles.
"Well Roman I couldn't think of anything that I'd enjoy more than going to dinner with
you." Cassie didn't want to seem too eager so she acted as if she had to take out her schedule and
check to see if she were free.
"Oh yes; I am free tomorrow evening."
"Great why don't I send my driver for you about eight ish?"
"That would be fine. I'll be ready and waiting."
When Cassie made her commitment to Roman, she forgot that it was her five-year
anniversary with Peter. She batted her blue eyes at Roman and then walked away allowing him
to watch her. When she got home, she couldn't wait to tell Peter that the part was between her
and one other girl, unfortunately he was not home. Peter went out to buy Cassie a diamond ring
to give her for their anniversary. He had planned on asking her to marry him, but kept it a secret
from her.
Peter was quite handsome. He stood about six foot four and had dark brown wavy hair
with bright green eyes. He was the high school football star and was up for a scholarship until he
hurt his knee in their last game of the year. Cassie only wanted him because all of the other girls
did too and she loved to show off the fact that she was the one that landed him.
Peter made a living at being a stockbroker. He made a very good income, but not good
enough for Cassie. Peter was very content in settling down and having children, but Cassie
wanted a movie career and there was no room in her life for a child or at least that's what she
thought. The following day when Peter got home from work, he set the mood. There were roses
all over the living room, candles lit and soft music playing when Cassie walked in the door.
"Peter. . . what is all of this?"
"Don't tell me that you have forgotten our five-year anniversary."
With a lack of appreciation for all of Peter's work Cassie made a face of inconvenience.
"Peter why didn't you tell me that you were going to do this? You know I have
rehearsal tonight, why didn't you ask me first if I were free for the evening?"
"Honey calm down! I just wanted everything to be perfect for you and I wanted to
surprise you."
"Well you did and now I have bad news, I can't stay, I have a meeting with the director
and I don't know what time I'm going to be home."
Peter was floored, and he could not believe that Cassie would abandon him on such an
important evening. Just as he pulled out the ring that he had bought her, there was a knock at the
door.
"Oh God Peter its Roman's driver, tell him that I'll be right there!"
Peter's heart just sank. He loved Cassie so much; all he wanted to do was make her
happy. He decided to swallow his disappointment and try and be happy for Cassie after all this
was her dream and he was watching it come true.
He opened the door and was polite to the driver and told him that Cassie would be right
out. As Cassie ran by him in a hurry to get the out of the house, she told him not to wait up, that
she had no idea what time she would be getting home. As Peter blew out the candles, he realized
that Cassie didn't even kiss him goodbye. The driver drove off and Cassie felt like a true movie
star. The limousine was fully stocked with liquor and champagne. She knew right then and there
that was the life that she wanted to live and if it meant leaving Peter behind then so be it. She
was taken to Roman's mansion and it was truly breath taking.
