The Watch That Saved The Briar Woods
It was only a moment later that they heard the real people say, “You search the woods in this direction. I’ll search the woods in the opposite. Bring anyone you find back to this spot. Don’t let anyone get away. It will spoil our plan!”
Freddie and Tanga could feel the vibrations, and hear the sounds of the feet of the real people, as they ran into the woods in opposite directions.
They were still hiding behind the large berry bush, when Freddie was reminded of what he heard one of the real people say, “We can’t let anything spoil our plan to blow up the Briar Woods Dam at three o’clock, exactly!”
It was then that Freddie remembered asking his mother before they left to go fishing, how to tell time. He said to himself, “I can tell time. I can tell three o’clock, exactly. That’s the time the yellow school bus takes kindergarten fire dragons home!”
Freddie pulled out the watch he found buried in the dirt from his pocket and looked at the hands; first the hour hand, and then the minute hand. They were almost pointing to three o’clock, exactly.
His heart was pounding when he turned to Tanga, who was clinging to his leg, and said, ”We have to stop the real people from blowing up the Briar Woods Dam at three o’clock, exactly.”
Tanga’s heart began pounding, “How are we going to do it? How does someone blow up a dam?”
