Dennison then added, "I want it all, all the copies and files you made, for that kind of money!"

Diana knew this was coming and replied, "They will be forthcoming, sir, only after I have your assurance that you either have the woman arrested, or fired, or both, from your company. You see, I have reason to believe that you were the one that left her mother in that sleazy motel all by herself to die when she started hemorrhaging after the botched abortion someone tried to perform on her. If I hear of her coming up dead in the next few days, or the gentleman she was doing business with, I'll make sure the proper authorities get the word that you were responsible!"

This really seemed to set him off as he shouted at her, "Just who the hell do you think you are? To be giving me orders when I already paid you off! Give me those copies now or I swear before I leave here you will regret calling me here tonight!"

Diana had a small mirror on the wall she had long ago mounted just for such an instance as this. As she glanced into it, she could plainly see his hand on an ugly looking pistol that lay on top of some papers in his briefcase.

She could tell he was going over the options in his head and she knew he was on the verge of doing something rash, something he thought he could cover up.

Then his voice filled with hatred and he said, "I'm not kidding, lady, my men could make your next few hours a living hell, if I call them in."

Diana pushed her chair back a little and in turn     Mr. Dennison grabbed his pistol and held it on her, a slight smile on his face, as he knew he had her cold.

Diana could feel the sweat break out on her body. She figured her odds had gone down considerably. Donjue was braced ready to spring if Diana gave the word but, at this range, Dennison was sure to at least kill her wolf before she could reach her pistol. Even if she gave him the copies, she was sure he would have to silence her to keep all she had learned from the authorities.

Then she saw the man slip the safety off on his pistol as he said to her, "I'm almost sorry it has to come to this, Hollis! I could have used a woman like you in my business, but then we both know it wouldn't have worked out, would it."

Diana was sure she was counting seconds now and her only hope was her large wolf, who was being watched by the man with the gun. This had been her worst fear and now it had come about. Mickey, who was parked outside, would never be able to help her in time.

She glanced at the picture of her and her husband on the desk, wishing with all her heart he was close by. It had been a good plan until now and she had let the whole situation slip out of her control in seconds.

Diana watched Dennison's finger start to tighten on the trigger and she knew for certain that unless she did something drastic in the next few seconds she would either be dead or hurt so badly she would wish she was dead!
