The Power of the Voice The Body of Christ has been given the gift of our mouths to speak creative miracles, signs, and wonders that will follow us, only because we believe. It is this belief system that causes many to question what it is that we believe? “That if thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart, that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans10:10-11). The word salvation in Hebrew is soteria, of which one meaning is deliverance. Basically, we believe that Jesus is Lord, and our mouths testify of the seed of faith that has been embedded in our hearts through His righteousness and the power of His deliverance. A point of discussion in Lips: Sacred or Scarred, is the dimension of the “spoken word”, where Joshua prayed and spoke that the moon and the sun would stand still. (Joshua 10:12). Because of his faith in God, God honored the words that came out of his mouth. Joshua had a voice that would open or close the heavens. As I begin to mediate on this, my question is where is the power of the voice of the Believer today? I remember viewing a program that provided financial information of the rich and famous. As I was listening, it was indicated that when a particular famous female media mogul would speak, the world would listen, heed, and move on what she advised. The very association of her voice with your product would create instant success. I begin to wonder, where is the power of the voice of the Believer, which was given unto us? A Distinctive Voice Your voice is unique to God, as he has fearfully, wonderfully, and marvelously made you. As His creation, He has placed a clear and unmistakable sound within you that is notable to Him. Make no mistake, He knows your voice just as He knows you. Let’s not forget that “the very hairs of your head are all numbered.” (Matthew 10:30). Have you ever considered that in the midst of all the voices on this earth, that God’s ear is keen to your voice? Remember He sees, He knows, and He hears all. He is listening. To what? Everything! There is the account of Bartimeus receiving his sight in Mark 10:46-52, which we as Believers tend to speak and identify him by his former condition. Anytime anything is said about him, we attach the word blind, which is his past. Many have read and preached his story that occurred years ago. He was sitting beside the highway that Jesus and his disciples were traveling leaving Jericho. Remember Jesus had already been in town and was on His way out. The airwaves were probably charged with the words (talk) of the miracles that were performed. Those words moving through the atmosphere would produce faith to the ears of those who heard. “Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”(Romans 10:17). Bartimeus’ faith was changed and charged by listening. He began the application process. He knew exactly who was needed for his miracle. Upon hearing the name Jesus in the atmosphere, he recalled all of the previous testimonies of the coming Messiah, and within his heart said, “I will call out to Him for my need.” It was not about his natural senses, but his supernatural senses. He could not see where He was, but Bartimeus’ faith was like a magnet seeking Jesus. As he heard that Jesus was on the highway, he got into position to cry out. He began to fill the atmosphere with a heart cry, “Jesus, thy son of David, have mercy on me.” (Mark 10:47). Those that were around Jesus wanted Bartimeus to be quiet, but he cried out louder. The first time he spoke, Bartimeus was saying, “Jesus, I know who you are and that you are here”. The second time he spoke, Bartimeus was saying, “I know your lineage and your heritage, you are the Christ, the Son of God.” The word says, “and Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called.” (Mark 10:49). The creation called on its Creator. There was a notable distinction in Bartimeus’ voice that he had a revelation to the Christ, which caused him to be brought into the presence of Jesus. There were many voices because of the crowds on the highway and the miracles that Jesus had performed. Think about it. Everyone was talking. Could it be that Jesus heard Bartimeus the first time, but waited to hear if the cry of his faith would raise his voice above the crowd and change the atmosphere for his miracle? Before Bartimeus stood up to go to Jesus, he cast off his garment. In those days, certain garments that were worn gave an indication of the affliction of those in torment. The Creator asked the creation, “What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? He said, “Lord, that I may receive my sight.” (Mark 10:51). The word says that he was made whole immediately.
